HISTORY
Sighișoara stands above the Târnava Mare valley in Transylvania. The citadel occupies the hill; the lower town extends below it. Cobbled lanes connect the squares and fortifications.
The historic centre joined the World Heritage List in 1999. Its buildings and street plan reflect the work of Transylvanian Saxon craftspeople and merchants.
